Position Description

SRC Inc, is currently seeking a software security engineer to help deliver best-in-class services to government clients in Alexandria, VA.


  • Coordinate with other program teams, planning and create cybersecurity architecture ensuring compliance with policy and guidance
  • Employ best practices when implementing security controls within an information system (IS)
    • Software engineering methodologies
    • System/security engineering principles
    • Secure design
    • Secure architecture
    • Secure coding techniques
  • Refine and develop security policies, security plans, risk assessments, continuity of operations (COOP), disaster recovery (DR) and other cybersecurity standards for agency
  • Develop cybersecurity architecture and design plans for communication and collaboration products
  • Provide security engineering support for accreditation
  • Integrate cybersecurity expertise into lifecycle management, planning architecture, design management, migration, deployment, system testing and implementation
  • Research, develop, test, document architectures and solutions for implementing new cybersecurity technologies that provide seamless information collaboration and cybersecurity capabilities for DSMS and its user base
  • Develop and provide criticality analysis to identify associated logic-bearing system components (hardware, firmware, and software) that implement, protect, or introduce vulnerability
  • Develop and update mission criticality analysis, vulnerability assessment, risk assessment, identification and counter measurement implementation for mission-critical functions
  • Ensure updated assumptions, rationale, and results related to criticality analyses, vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, supply chain risk information, and risk mitigations are made available for government review
  • Demonstrate mechanisms in place to effectively monitor supply chain for critical components, understands how supply chain risk can be introduced through components, and plans to implement countermeasures to mitigate such risks

Position Requirements
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred; direct work experience may substitute for formal education
  • Five+ years of system engineering and/or system security engineering experience supporting software programs
  • Proficiency in securing systems in accordance with DoD policies and guidelines
  • Proficiency in developing and working with software security principles
  • Proficiency in system security engineering principles and methods
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills a must; knowledge of database design and concepts highly desired
  • DoD 8570.01-M IASAE Level II certification required

Security Clearance Requirements

An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance and current investigation are required.  Applicant will be required to submit to a polygraph.
