Position Description

SRC, Inc. is currently seeking a deputy program manager in the Syracuse, N.Y. office to support our growing number of defense customers. The deputy program manager will work closely with our program managers in the daily execution of engineering development programs.


  • Monitor and report performance against plans to meet cost, schedule and staffing objectives
    • Develop, maintain, and perform status program schedules in Microsoft Project
    • Develop and maintain budgets and cost tracking workbooks
    • Assist program managers in resource planning
  • Execute an earned value program as well as calculate, understand, and analyze earned value metrics (CPI, SPI, EAC, ETC)
  • Assist in the data gathering and preparation of status reports and other technical documents
  • Generate and present schedule and financial data for internal and customer program reviews
  • Interface with the customer to assist in overall program execution including meetings, program requirements/deliverables, and open action items
  • Work closely with financial analysts, procurement, contracts, shipping and receiving, and cost estimating on various tasks in support of programs
  • Assist with basis of estimates and planning/execution of proposals
  • Track program risks and action items while maintaining a database for each
  • Ensure overall compliance with program management procedures and processes
  • Support multiple programs to successful completion 
  • Support the development of staffing plans, coordinate resources, and maintain schedules on multiple programs
  • Plan and manage schedules at proposal and execution phases to achieve on-time deliveries of contractual requirements
  • Develop and manage budgets of various sizes to contribute to customer and business financial success
  • Develop budgetary estimates for customer budgeting and internal planning
  • Provide weekly and monthly project status both internally and to customer organizations
  • Meet program cost and schedule commitments
  • Represent the organization in assigned marketing and business development activities including proposal development
  • Ensure compliance with SRC program management processes and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality and configuration management system processes

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field with five or more years of experience in program control/program management
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Must be proficient in earned value management (EVM) and its implementation
  • Previous or current EVM certification is required
  • Experience with Microsoft Project is required
  • Must be a proven team player with excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills, and a positive can-do work attitude
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment
