Position Description
SRC, Inc. is currently seeking a results-oriented director of developmental quality assurance. This organizational leader will be responsible for ensuring process assurance and product compliance throughout the engineering product development/realization process through production transition to production. This critical role carries significant responsibility for establishing the vision and direction for software and hardware quality engineering, providing both strategic direction as well as directing the day-to-day operations of the teams.

We are looking for an individual who has demonstrated experience in defining and implementing practical and effective metrics, policies, processes and models across the entire systems development life cycle. This leader will ensure that all products will result in “quality by design” and will provide leadership for failure analysis and resolution efforts. In this role, you will collaborate with manufacturing engineering, materials, purchasing, design engineering and program management to ensure that quality requirements are understood and applied.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other production engineering disciplines to review validation plans and reports, engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and engineering change orders
  • Embrace continuous improvement initiatives and take initiative to identify opportunities within the quality management system
  • Objectively assess program risk and prioritize multiple competing tasks accordingly, driving corrective actions as needed
  • Summarize data, draw conclusions and turn recommendations into clear communications to be distributed to all levels of the organization
  • Improve reliability of the product development process
  • Drive transition to production processes (DFX, certification/compliance)
  • Contract compliance, statement of work (SOW), and project plan reviews
  • Develop program quality plans
  • Participate in design/change reviews and Physical Configuration Audits (PCA)/Functional Configuration Audits (FCA)
  • Ensure systemic issues identified during development results in Corrective Action Requests (CAR)
  • Participate in Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)/Failure Review Board (FRB) to ensure early identification of trends
  • Audit/enforce compliance to development procedures and processes
  • Provide customer/program support

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, computer science, mathematics, statistics or similar field (master’s degree a plus)
  • 10 or more years of related work experience as a quality manager or director; background in highly complex electromechanical products or radar/radio frequency (RF) environments a plus
  • Previous work experience with DO178B/DO254 (FAA) and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is strongly desired
  • Detail oriented with strong leadership attributes
  • Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated experience
  • In depth knowledge of aerospace specifications, testing and requirements, and certification of quality control
  • Skilled at persuading, motivating and energizing others at all levels
  • Passionate, personable, self-confident and able to flex style to direct, collaborate or empower as the situation requires
