Position Description
SRC, Inc. is currently seeking a mid-level system architect who will be responsible for providing on-site support to one of our government customers located in the Washington metropolitan area. As a systems architect you will design and develop solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. You will act as an adviser and propose changes to the ETA based on analysis of requirements and new technology. Additionally, you will work with appropriate parties to resolve discrepancies between proposed IT systems and enterprise quality and security standards.

  • Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining the customer’s IT Enterprise
  • Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with the customer’s goals and objectives
  • Provide architectural expertise, direction and assistance to systems analysts, systems engineers, other systems architects, and software development teams
  • Develop, document and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
  • Where applicable, design, develop and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems
  • Document the customer’s existing systems architecture and technology portfolio, and make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives
  • Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements
  • Confer with end-users and department heads to define customer requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development
  • Model the customer’s IT Enterprise and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models
  • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance, report on findings, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Develop, document, communicate and enforce a policy for standardizing systems and software as necessary

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or business administration or master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or business administration and five (5) years of equivalent experience
  • Seven plus (7+) years of relevant experience working within a federal acquisition setting with a strong working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and/or NRO Acquisition Manual (NAM)
  • DODD 8140 IAM-3 certification required or obtained within six months of hire
  • Extensive experience in developing strategic systems architecture plans
  • Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis
  • Proven experience in systems and network design and development
  • Knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800 series (SP 800-137, SP 800-53, SP 800-37)
  • Effective communicator and a creative player with strong teamwork and leadership skills
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain consensus with multi-discipline teams across organizational/functional lines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to provide technical feedback, guidance, and advice during teleconferences and meetings
  • Must be proficient in technical writing and able to successfully communicate in person and on the phone with both technical and acquisition specialists
  • Ability to work within multi-discipline teams in the office and external environments
  • Accepts ownership, is accountable, and delivers on commitments and meets schedules

Security Clearance Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen. An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance and current FS or CI polygraph are required.
